The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey H. Pulse, associate professor of Exegetical Theology, joined the Concordia Theological Seminary faculty in 2007. Following graduation from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska, with a B.S. in Elementary Education (1980), he attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, completing his M.Div. in 1984 and his S.T.M. in 1990. His 22 years in the parish were served in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burt, Iowa and Peace Lutheran, Bremerton, Washington. He completed his S.T.M. from CTS while in the parish in 1990. Professor Pulse holds a Ph.D. from the University of Durham, England, in the area of Old Testament, specifically, Concepts of the Afterlife in the Old Testament and Second Temple Judaism. His dissertation is titled “Joseph: a Death and Resurrection Figure In the Old Testament and Second Temple Judaism.” In addition to teaching seminary courses in biblical Hebrew and various Old Testament books, Pulse serves as director of Certification and Placement and director of Continuing Education.
