Rev. Dr. Emil Fredrick Tonn (1882-1954)
The Reverend Emil Tonn served as pastor of Lutheran congregations at Plevna and Natrona, Kansas, at Arenzville, Illinois and at Pleasant Plain, Illinois.
Since 1950, he had served as institutional missionary at Lincoln State School and at the State Hospital in Bartonville, Illinois until his retirement.
In recognition of his services to the church, the seminary and board of control in Springfield conferred upon him the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity in June 1953.
Reverend Tonn had served as official visitor of the Illinois Valley Circuit, as a member of the District Mission Board, and as Vice-President, and as elected president of the Central Illinois District in 1948
