Rev. Dr. Richard L. Schlecht (1921-2010)
A graduate of St. John's and Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, he was ordained on March 4, 1945. He subsequently served as Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak and St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester. In 1969 he became President of the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a position he held until 1985. Following his retirement he returned to Rochester where he served as Minister Emeritus at St. John.
