Yamauchi, Edwin M. Dr. Yamauchi received his Ph.D. (1964) from Brandeis University. He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. His teaching and research interests include ancient history, Biblical archaeology, and early church history. Dr. Yamauchi has authored and edited numerous books including Greece and Babylon, Persia and the Bible, The Archaeology of New Testament Cities in Western Asia Minor, Harper's World of the New Testament, Gnostic Ethics and Mandaean Origins, Pre-Christian Gnosticism, and Africa and Africans in Antiquity. A co-edited work, Peoples of the Old Testament World, received a prize from the Biblical Archaeological Society. His writings have been translated into a dozen languages.
