Rev. Dr. Arthur E. Graf (1912-2004)


Born March 8, 1912 in Vernon, Texas to Ernest and Marie Kubitz Graf, the 8th child in a family of 11 children. He attended both the Lutheran and public school in Vernon, and Concordia High School in Austin. He continued his education at Concordia, Mo. before entering St. Louis Seminary. Upon graduation, he served congregations in Texas, Alabama, and Pennsylvania. In addition, he taught at Springfield Lutheran Seminary for 13 years, teaching pastoral theology, missions, counseling, and parish administration. He served the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod as a member of the Board of Parish Education, the Committee on Social Action and the Board of Evangelism.

He served in five different districts of synod on various boards, including as counselor and on the Board of Missions and the Board of Adjudication in Texas. He has conducted workshops for both pastors and laymen in the U.S. and Canada.
