JAMES BRAUER: There's not much to say at this point, but we get some hints about the direction that Luther wants to go. First of all, we can say that he was ready to use the old music that didn't have the problems of false doctrine. And that wasn't a design like he objected he says, skip those long graduals where the design kind of overwhelms the moment because it's too huge for its place in the service. And he also is calling for new things to be created like new hymns. And here he's even allowing that German could be inserted in the Latin service. Bilingual services? Rather interesting thoughts. And we'll see that they bear fruit over time.
